ATHENS-Online bill payments and e-billing will not be available to Athens Utilities’ customers starting Thursday, Aug. 15, and going through Sept. 30.
Athens Utilities is in the process of upgrading its billing and online bill payment service to an advanced yet user friendly program that allows customers to make payments without charging fees.
This new program will offer accurate up-to-date billing and payment history. Customers will have the option of changing their own password without the assistance of the Athens Utilities staff, and there will not be any convenience or service fees when customers pay with e-check, credit card or bank draft. Utilities also will offer a pay-by-phone option with the new provider.
On Thursday, Aug. 15, Athens Utilities will discontinue the current online bill payment and e-billing service. It will be necessary that to take down the online payment feature through Sept. 30, 2013. Customers may continue to pay by bank draft, traditional mail or by visiting the Customer Accounts office on Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. At Customer Accounts, customers may pay with cash, check or credit card. Athens Utilities accepts MasterCard, Visa and Discover.
Once the new system is launched, customers will need to reestablish their online account with Athens Utilities. Instructions will be provided at www.athens-utilities.com.
