ATHENS-This October, the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division (CID) initiated an investigation into reports of charity fraud within Limestone County. The investigation revealed that between 2021 and 2024, TikTok personality Amy Dianne Elmore Downs, 57, of Athens, AL, also known as Slot_7.0 or Slotmachinequeen, solicited donations for a purported charity to aid domestic violence victims and homeless individuals. Downs, requested that her followers send funds to her personal PayPal, CashApp, and Venmo accounts, claiming the donations would support the charitable cause. Over several years, Downs received substantial contributions from individuals across the United States and from various countries worldwide.
During the investigation, it was revealed that no legitimate charity existed under Downs’ name. Further research uncovered that no charity had been registered with the Alabama Attorney General’s Office, and Downs had not reported any employment since 2020. Since 2021, Downs has deposited nearly one million dollars into her personal bank accounts under the guise of charitable donations.
As a result of the findings, probable cause was established to arrest Downs on charges of 7 counts of Charitable Fraud 1st Degree and 3 counts of Tax Evasion. Downs’ bond has been set at $1,125,000. The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may be forthcoming.
The Limestone County Sheriff’s Office urges anyone with information or concerns about potential fraudulent activity involving Downs to come forward. If you believe you may have been a victim or have relevant information, please email the Criminal Investigation Division at the following:
