Athens Teen Dies After Being Struck By Vehicle

ATHENS-The Athens Police issued press release concerning a traffic accident involving a pedestrian who was struck and killed as he rode a bicycle:

“On Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at 11:50 pm, Athens Police Department officers responded to a report of a bicyclist struck by a vehicle on US 72 West, near Brownsferry Street. Upon arrival, they located a deceased male, Josu Velasquez (13 of Athens).

The driver is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.”
