Jerry and Jill Bartlett
ATHENS– The Athens State University chapter of the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) has donated two seats in the newly remodeled McCandless Hall to honor President Emeritus Jerry Bartlett and to memorialize his late wife Jill.
“We wanted to do something special for our former colleague, and in turn remember his wife
Mark Durm
whom he recently lost,” stated AAUP President Mark Durm. “The couple spent so many hours in McCandless that we feel that naming two seats in the auditorium for them would be a very appropriate move.”
Durm will host a ceremony to announce the donation at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 5 in the
Classroom Building on the Athens State campus. The public is invited.
The donated seats in the auditorium are being administered by the Athens State University Foundation. Each will include a brass plaque with the honoree’s name. For more information about these naming opportunities please call the Foundation at 256-233-8185.
