Athens State University Commencement Planned for May 7th

52a3ca12188c2.imageATHENS– Athens State University’s graduation exercises will be held in the Carter Physical Education Gymnasium on Saturday, May 7 with three separate ceremonies.

Lee was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama and received his undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degrees from the University of Alabama.
Lee has worked in the two-year college system for over 40 years, 12 of those years serving as President of Northwest-Shoals Community College. Dr. Lee is actively involved in numerous community and professional organizations.
At noon, the College of Business will present diplomas to their graduates with Ronnie Chronister serving as the keynote speaker.
Chronister currently serves as Director of Army and Missile Defense Programs at Dynetics, Inc. The last eight

years of his 32-year career in federal service he served as Deputy to the Commander, U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command.
Chronister received his Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Alabama and his master’s degree from the Naval Postgraduate School.
At 3 p.m., the College of Education graduation ceremony will be held with Arvy Dupuy serving as the keynote speaker.
Dupuy is a 1987 graduate of Athens State University and received his Master’s Degree in Leadership from Southern

Christian University. He also received a Master’s Degree in Theology from Amridge University.
Dupuy is the Executive Director of SCOPE 310 in Florence, Alabama that serves individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities who live in Colbert, Franklin, and Lauderdale counties. He is also an adjunct instructor at Heritage Christian University.
Approximately 300 students will march, encompassing the graduating classes for the three colleges for the 2016 spring semester.
