Athens State Community Band Spring Concert Announced

aa1a61f8-cfd3-48c0-b493-36ae3bced41bATHENS – The Athens State University Community Band under the direction of Dan Havely will present its annual Spring Concert on Sunday, April 24th at 3 p.m. in the Carter Gymnasium on the Athens State campus.

 

Featured on the program will be selections from “My Fair Lady,” “Les Miserables,” and “The Music Man,” as well as music from the operas of Verdi and Rossini.  The band will perform marches by John Philip Sousa, Harry Alford, and “Caravan” by jazz great Duke Ellington.

 

The Athens State Community Band, now comprised of 50 volunteer musicians, is completing its 13th year of providing music for many university and community events.

 

The concert is free and open to the public. Donations supporting the band are welcomed. Reservations are not necessary to attend.  For more information about the concert, call 256-233-8296.
