ATHENS-The Athens Rotary Club completed its marquee service project this week at the Athens Activity Center.
Rotarians along with friends from the Birdie Thornton Center and seniors from the Athens Activity Center organized and filled 1,104 individual bags of meals for Limestone County Schools students. The bags contained ravioli, granola bars, oatmeal, mac and cheese, crackers, and apple sauce.
The Rotary club would like to thank Hometown Grocery of Athens for their work in getting the groceries ordered and organized.
In addition to a Rotary International grant and funding from the Athens Rotary Club, funds were received from the Athens Limestone Empty Bowls project to support this major effort.

The bags of meals will be delivered to the schools on Wednesday.
