ATHENS-On Saturday, August 29 Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson issued a statement concerning a robbery on Market Street and the chief is asking the public for their help in identifying the suspect in the robbery:

“Yesterday afternoon, (Friday, August 28) shortly before 6:00 the Fuel City at the intersection of Market Street and Hines Street was robbed.

The manager told officers a black male wearing a black hoodie and a mask came into the store, pointed a pistol at him and demanded money. The male left left walking south on Hines Street. There were no injuries in the case.

I have attached photos from the store’s surveillance system. If anyone has any information we ask they call the police department at 256-233-8700. “
