Athens Police Make Speedy Arrest In Robbery With A Little Help From DHR

ATHENS-Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson released a statement concerning a robbery that took place on Thursday, January 26:

“This afternoon at 14:05 the police department received a call of a robbery at the Liberty gas station at the corner of Hines Street and Market Street.

Responding officers were told by two workers from Limestone County DHR information about where the suspect ran and a description of the suspect. Within 30 minutes of the robbery officers had recovered the pistol used, the suspects clothing and the money taken in the robbery. Within an hour officers and investigators had a suspect in custody.

Officers Mac McWhorter and Jimmy Rogers located Jonathan Dangelo Normanin the woods. Captain Trevor Harris interviewed Norton about the robbery.

Norton has been charged with robbery 1st degree. He is currently being booked at the police department and will be transferred to the county jail later this evening.

I want to thank the workers from DHR and other witnesses for their help this afternoon.

Normans address is 602 1st Avenue Athens and he is 21 years old.”
