ATHENS-On September 17, 2026, investigators with the Athens Police Department identified Charles Lewis, sixty (60) years of age and a resident of Harvest,

Alabama, as the suspect in an armed robbery that occurred at Mike’s Food Mart on September 15, 2026. Following multiple tips provided by concerned citizens, investigators located Lewis’s vehicle and executed a search warrant on the automobile, successfully recovering physical evidence linking Lewis to the robbery.
Investigators subsequently determined that Lewis had been arrested by the Huntsville Police Department during the early morning hours of September 17,
Charles Lewis2026, and is presently incarcerated at the Madison County Jail on unrelated charges. Upon his release from Madison County custody, Lewis will be transferred to the Athens Police Department to face formal arrest for the armed robbery offense.
