ATHENS-Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson releaseda statement concerning the arrest of two suspect in unrelated cases on Wednesday, March 22:
“Lance Skyler Thornton was arrested early this morning for unlawful breaking and entering a motor vehicle by Officer James Kennedy and Sgt. Eric White. This morning shortly after 02:00 the police department received a call from a residence in the 17000 block of Clearview Street. The caller told dispatchers there was someone looking in the cab of their unlocked truck. The caller was also able to give the dispatcher a description of the suspect’s vehicle when it left the residence. A short time later when officers arrived they located the vehicle driving down Clearview Street. Officers located a jack and a pair of Ray- Ban sunglasses that had been stolen from the victim’s vehicle. Thornton was transported to the police department where booked and transported to the county jail.
Our investigators along with ATF agents have been investigating the burglary at Bradford’s Pawn and Jewelry since the store was broken into early Sunday morning. The investigation has moved swiftly and investigators and our patrol officers have worked long hours to resolve this case. Early this morning investigators arrested Brian James Parker, 21 of Athens for the burglary. Investigators are continuing to interview people that have or may have knowledge of this case. At the present time the investigation is continuing and I cannot release any other details about this case. We’re continuing to ask anyone that may have any information about this burglary to call The Athens Police Department at 256-233-8700, there closest ATF office or their local law enforcement agency. Parker was book at the police department and transferred to the county jail this morning. I will release more information as the investigation continues.”
