Athens Police Arrest Two Suspects In Separate Cases On Sunday

ATHENS- On Monday, January 6 Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson issued statement on two arrest made on Sunday one on failure to have required ID as sex offender and the other arrest was for Theft of Property 1st Degree:

“James Hubert Overton was arrested on Sunday, January 5 for violation of the sex offenders notification law. Overton was stopped on US 72 east for a traffic violation by Officer Bobby Hand. Overton told Hand he lost his identification about 3 weeks ago. When Hand checked he found out Overton is a sex offender and he is required by law to have in his possession an identification. Overton was transported to the police department and transferred to the county jail.” 

was arrested yesterday for theft of property 1st degree. Montgomery is accused of stealing a 1997 Toyota Truck from Wal-Mart on November 28, 2019. Lt. Bret Constable investigated the case. Montgomery was booked at the police department and transported to the county jail.”
