ATHENS-The Athens Police Department arrested a suspect in the theft of guns and a safe from a residence on Theresa Lane on Monday, July 25. Police Chief Floyd Johnson released a statement today, Thursday, July 28:
“On Monday the police department received a call of a burglary at 106 Theresa Lane. The owner came home and found someone had been in his residence and took money, a safe and three guns. Entry was made through a window.
Yesterday Investigator Lance Royals with the Sheriff’s Department was working on an unrelated case when he developed a suspect in our burglary.
Our investigators interviewed Don Edward Ryan. Later in the evening they arrested Ryan for burglary 3rd degree for the Theresa Lane burglary. Ryan was brought to the police department where he was booked then transported to the county jail.
One of the guns has been recovered; investigators are working to recover more of the stolen property.
The investigation into this case continues and more arrest is possible.”
