Athens Police Arrest One Suspect in Buick Dealership Thefts, More Arrests Pending

ATHENS-Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson issued a statement on  Monday, December 10 concerning an ongoing investigation of theft from Jimmy Smith Buick GMC.  One suspect has been arrested and more arrests are pending:

“Late Friday afternoon Investigators Jonathan Caldwell arrested Jaterrius Tywon Burrell on warrants for 2 counts theft of property first degree and one count of burglary third degree.

The arrests are from the thefts and burglary at Jimmy Smith Buick GMC earlier this month. The business was broken into and a GMC Canyon and a Buick Encore was taken. Both vehicles were recovered later in the morning in Decatur.

Burrell was booked at the police department and transferred to the county jail. The investigation into this case is continuing and more arrest are expected. “
