ATHENS-Athens Police are searching for a bank robbery suspect this afternoon. Chief Floyd Johnson said a person robbed First National Bank on U.S. 72 just before 3 p.m. today. No one was injured.
ATHENS-Athens Police are searching for a bank robbery suspect this afternoon. Chief Floyd Johnson said a person robbed First National Bank on U.S. 72 just before 3 p.m. today. No one was injured.
The suspect is described as a tall black male wearing a light-colored button-down shirt, dark blue jeans, and a black ball cap with a red bill. Witnesses last saw the suspect running toward Lindsay Shopping Center.
Search dogs and a helicopter are being used as part of the search.
Statement from Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson:
“This afternoon shortly before 3:00 the police department received a call of a bank robbery at First National Bank on HWY 72 east and Lindsay Lane. A tall black male entered the bank and handed the teller a note. After the teller gave the male the money he left the bank and was last seen running west toward the Lindsay Center. There no injuries in this robbery. I have attached two photos of the suspect. If anyone has any information we ask they call 256-233-8700. “
