Athens Man Dies In Crash Between Motorcycle And SUV

ATHENS-On Sunday, September 14, 2025, at 8:32 am, members of the Athens Police Department, Athens Fire and Rescue, and the Athens-Limestone Ambulance Service responded to a traffic crash on US 72 West, near Lucas Ferry Road.

A two vehicle collision had occurred between a motorcycle and an SUV. Emergency responders immediately began to treat the male who had been thrown from the motorcycle. Unfortunately, this man did not survive.

He is identified as 29 year old, Jonathan Paul Usery of Toney, Alabama.

Also, firefighters worked to extinguish a fire near the motorcycle.

This crash remains under investigation.
