ATHENS-The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency has reported a single-vehicle accident near Athens has taken the life of one person:
“A single-vehicle crash involving a commercial vehicle that occurred at approximately 4:15 p.m. Friday, May 8, has claimed the life of an Athens man.
Rodell K. Burton, 46, was fatally injured when the 2018 Peterbilt dump truck he was driving left the roadway and struck a culvert bridge.
Burton was transported to Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville for medical treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
The crash occurred on New Cut Road near Lydia Corey Road, approximately three miles east of Athens in Limestone County.
Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.”
