Athens Man Arrested On Grand Jury Warrant Theft 1st Degree

ATHENS-On Friday, March 16ย Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson issued a statement on the arrst of a suspect who has been arrested on a grand jury warrant of First Degree Theft of Property

“Jalmal Malcom Petite was arrested Thursday, March 15 on a grand jury warrant for theft of property first degree and a warrant for possession of forged instruments first degree.

In May of 2016 Petite contacted the victim about a ring she was selling on Craigโ€™s List. They agreed to meet. The victim sold the ring to Petite for $2900.00.

The next week the victim attempted to deposit the cash from the sale into her account. The bank identified seventeen of the one hundred dollar bills as counterfeit.ย ย 

Investigator Kelly Fussell was able to develop Petite as a suspect in the case and obtained warrants for his arrest. Petite was booked at the police department and transferred to the county jail.”
