ATHENS-On Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at approximately 7:30 pm, an officer with Athens Police Department stopped a
vehicle on US 72, near Clinton Street. The driver stopped briefly and then fled in the truck West bound on US 72. He would eventually fire shots from a pistol at the officer during the pursuit. The suspect drove into a wooded area and fled on foot near Beech Fork Lane in South Western Limestone County.
David Christopher Bolton (41, of Athens) was eventually located and charged with Attempted Murder. The Limestone County Sheriff’s Office will investigate this case and we would like to thank them for all their assistance. Furthermore, thanks go out to the following law enforcement agencies for their swift response to this scene: Florence Police Department, Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office, ALEA Highway Patrol Division, ALEA Air Support Division, Madison Police Department, U.S. Marshall Service, and the Huntsville Police Department.
