ATHENS-Police Chief Floyd Johnson released a statement concerning an arrest warrant for Assault 1st Degree:
“On January 20, 2016 the police department was called to 107 4th Avenue. The caller told dispatchers a man had been shot with a BB gun. When officers arrived on the scene they located the victim, he had been shot three times in the face with the BB gun.
The victim is 41 years old and does not live at 107 4th Avenue. The victim told officers he had gone to the residence to talk with a female he was having a relationship with. He said that Thomas Wigginton was inside the residence with the female but he didn’t know it till Wigginton came to the door. He said Wigginton came outside and shot him three times in the face. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment. One of the projectiles struck the victims eye. Due to the injury the victim has lost the sight in his eye.
On January 25, 2016 the victim obtained an assault first degree warrant for Wigginton. Wigginton was arrested yesterday on the warrant. He was booked at the police department and transferred to the county jail.”
