ATHENS-Athens has a jam-packed month ahead for October and going into November. Here are just a few of the events on schedule for the next month:
- Fiddlers set of September 30 through October 2 (Tennessee Valley Old Time Fiddlers Convention at Athens State). Some campers have already arrived on campus.
- Annual Haunt Walks – These will be at night on October 5-7, 12, 14, 19, 21, 26 and 28. There will be walking tours and some wagon tours. The tours will include the downtown area. Hosted by Tourism.
- Athens Homecoming Parade – October 8 starting at 2 p.m. from the Middle School and taking the Christmas parade route through downtown to the library.
- Pink Lady Walk/Run – October 9 from 8-10 a.m. Will start at Duck Pond and take Market, Houston, Forrest, Hoffman, Washington, Jefferson back to Market and back to the park. Supports Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
- Barre on The Square – October 16 from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Marion Street between Washington and Market. This is a ballet inspired fitness class and will benefit the Limestone Child Advocacy Center. Includes one food truck.
- Storytelling Festival – October 17-24 on Marion Street under the circus tent. Will have some vendors on Washington at Marion. Tent will go up on October 17 and come down October 24. Schools will attend Ocober19-20. Local storytellers competition will be Oct.ober19. Amateur night will be October 21. Public attendance will be October22-23.
- Trunk or Treat on The Square with first responders will be Halloween night. More information coming.
- Veterans Day Parade – November 6 starting at 11 a.m. Will start at the Middle School and follow the Christmas parade route through downtown to Hometown.
