Derryberry gave Athens Gas $1 million, Athens Fire $1 million, lowered taxes 50 percent, gave 50 percent raises to employees, paid a light bill for KALB, earned votes by telling the ladies at City Hall none of them looked over 18 and chose his mayoral campaign slogan for 2016: Lovely, Lovely Lovey.

Born July 8, 1990, in Nashville, Tennessee, H.K. was born three months premature due to an automobile accident that took his mother’s life. The two-pound baby boy spent 96 days fighting for survival in Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s neonatal intensive care unit.

H.K. visited Athens today with his friend Jim Bradford, formerly of Athens. During a 2013 visit to Athens when he spoke to Athens Rotary, H.K. met Mayor Marks and told him he wanted to be mayor of Athens one day. He got his wish this afternoon.

Wonderful gesture by Mayor Marks..in 15 years, I’ve never seen HK more excited. I hope the city can recover financially!
