ATHENS – On May 8, 2023, the Athens Alabama Pickleball Association (AAPA) made a donation to the Make a Way Foundation.
AAPA recently held a pickleball tournament at the Athens Recreation Center during autism awareness month. The association was able to donate $1,419 from the tournament proceeds to Make a Way foundation and the other portion of the tournament profits went to the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office to help create a special vehicle to promote autism awareness.Make a Way Foundation Founder and Board Chair Stacey Givens said these funds will provide support and services to those with special needs and their families.AAPA Board Vice President Jennifer Bridges said the tournament was a huge success and the club is grateful to give back.“Our association is full of generous players who will always support a good cause,” Bridges said. “We were glad to partner with Make a Way foundation to provide support and services to the people they serve.”The community is invited to follow Athens Alabama Pickleball Association on Facebook for upcoming tournaments and other ways to learn about pickleball.Media Release/Blake Williams/Communication & Research Specialist/Limestone County Economic Development Association
