TUSCUMBIA-The community is invited at 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 5, to historic St. John’s
Church, 300 N. Dickson St., Tuscumbia, to experience an intimate service of Morning
Prayer for Ash Wednesday, including the Imposition of Ashes. The Anglican tradition offers
this meaningful Lenten service from the Book of Common Prayer as preparation for the
coming celebration of Easter.
The early morning hour of the service, offers individuals who are familiar with the
Imposition of Ashes to observe this worship tradition prior to the day’s pressing
commitments from work, school, and family responsibilities. Christians of all
denominations or people who simply wish to learn more about Lent are welcome.
St. John’s Episcopal Church, an area landmark built in 1852, is closed for regular services
but opens its doors from time to time for special community worship and for programming.
The Rev. Danielle Thompson of Grace Episcopal Church, Sheffield, will officiate at the Ash
Wednesday service. For more information: 256-383-2014, 931-636-4898, or 256-710-9081;
