Mr. Stewart departed this life on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

Born in Tecumseh, MI, he had lived in Hardeman County over 20 years. Mr. Stewart was the son the the late Arthur Thomas Stewart, Sr. and Mary Imogene Wiggins Stewart and was the widower of Joan Ellen Coe Stewart, who died January 12, 2012. The Stewart’s married on August 20, 1967. Additional family who have passed away include a son, Arthur Ray Stewart, Sr., a daughter, Teresa Ann Womack; granddaughter, Crystal Renee Stewart, and a sister, Margaret Beret.

Mr. Stewart was a retired automotive mechanic and member of the Bolivar Pentecostal Church. He was a 1964 graduate of Grant Union High School in Sacramento, CA and served his country in the US Army for 22 years. He attained the rank of Sergeant, First Class and did two tours of duty in Vietnam.

His survivors include four brothers, Paul Stewart of Toone, David Stewart of Flat Rock, MI, Mike Stewart of Honolulu, HI and Dan Stewart of Texas; four sisters, Donna Elmore, Karen Roberts and Diane Stewart, all of Michigan and Sonja Kerr of Texas; four grandchildren, Thomas (Courtney) Sparr of Clarksville, TN, John Allen (Katie) Sparr of Illinois, Arthur R. (Kristina) Stewart, Jr. of Dyersburg and Madison Faith Woods of Bolivar; and eight great-grandchildren, Sunny Stewart, Lily and Lila Sparr, Leon Smith, Bryan, Zoey and Emileigh Cummings and Rhydian Sparr.
