Arthur Carl Collins Jr., only son of beloved Scottsboro physician Dr. Carl
Collins and his wife Elisabeth Covey, died unexpectedly on Monday,
September 14 from a heart attack at his home in Rivermont Townhouses at
Goosepond. He was 68 years old.
The third of three children, Art was born November 2, 1957. He attended
Scottsboro city schools until his junior year, before transferring to Sewanee
Academy in 1975. After graduation from Sewanee, he attended Auburn
University briefly before transferring to Virginia Tech where he graduated in
1980 with a degree in finance. He remained a lifelong Auburn fan in a
house divided.
With a fellow nursing student at Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Amy Bohon,
he co-founded and served as CFO of Coastal Healthcare Consultants, a
supplier of I/T and computer systems to major hospitals and clinics
throughout the United States.
He returned to Scottsboro in 2009 and unselfishly tended his aging mother
at her home during the last 12 years of her life.
He loved boating, skiing, and hunting and fishing with his father. He was an
avid fan of Jimmy Buffett, whose concert tours he followed and whose
memorabilia he collected.
He was predeceased by only 29 days by his sister, Amy Diane Collins
Cameron, also of Scottsboro.
He is survived by a sister, Beth Melinda Collins Presley, a niece, Elise
Presley (Dan) Johnson of Bogart, Ga, a nephew, Charles David Presley III
of Huntsville, a brother-in-law, Chris Cameron, of Scottsboro, a great
nephew, Hank Johnson, and great niece, Carley Johnson, both of Bogart.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Amy, and brother-in-law
Charles David Presley, Jr.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. to
3:00 p.m. at Scottsboro Funeral Home Chapel, with the service to follow. Interment will be at Pinehaven Memorial Gardens alongside his parents and sister.
