Arthur C. Dockery, 84, of Huntsville, went to be with the Lord on Thursday. Arthur was born in Tuscaloosa and was a graduate of Holt High School. He received a football scholarship at West Alabama University. He then joined the Forces as an Army Medic and served in the Korean Conflict. He was a successful businessman and owner of OK tires for 55 years. He was a loving father and grandfather and left a lasting impression on all who met him. He was a strong Christian role model and selflessly contributed to the community. He was a charter member of Mountain View Baptist Church, playing a key role in the establishment of their Family Life Center. Arthur Dockery was loved and respected by all who knew him and he will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Irene Dockery, as well as, his brothers, George, Sam and Paul Dockery.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Devenia ‘Dinky’ Dockery; daughters, Cathy Driscoll and husband, Mark, of Atlanta, GA, and Patty White and husband, Mark, of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Kyle and Kevin Driscoll; Jason, Hailey and Jonathan White; as well as his dear sister, Faye Guy of Tuscaloosa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Jeff Pike officiating. Burial will be in Huntsville Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. View Baptist Church Family Life Center.
