He was a graduate of Phil Campbell High School. Mr. Brown
served his country twice. He was a veteran of the United States Army and the United States Air Force. He was a certified Medical Technician for almost 50 years, retiring from Lakeland Community Hospital. He was a Ham Radio Operator, avid horseman and gardener.
A Private Service was held, Shane Swinney officiated the service.
He is survived by his children, Colin F. Brown and April (Rob) Tavares; cousins and loved ones, Mary Elizabeth Bateman, Eudora Peterson, Greg (Brenda) Melvin, Trixie Martin, Lyonel Martin, Robert Swinney, Bernard Matthewson and countless others.
Gus was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his sister, Brenda Brown Martin; step mother Nollie Brown; beloved grandparents, Ezra and Hassie Brown; and cousin Jimmie Darnell Swinney.
