Art Loyd, Jr.Art Loyd Jr., age 65, passed away Friday, September 9, 2022 at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born March 22, 1957 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Artis Loyd Sr. and Mary Frances Dickerson Loyd. He grew up in Fort Wayne, Indiana and spent summers and his later childhood in Tupelo. He lived his adult life in the Eggville Community being a friend and volunteer to anyone in need. He ran the Auburn Civic Center. The majority of his career was spent in the transportation industry at Hickory Springs, Great Southern Box, Action Transport, and Lee County Road Department. He was a man of many hobbies and talents. He loved to be outside, especially in or near water. He was led to salvation at an early age by his parents and walked with Christ daily.
Art is survived by his mother; his daughter, Jeanne Beth Creely and husband, Matthew of Tupelo; twin grandsons, Garrett Matthew Creely and Turner Loyd Creely; his sister, Mary Evelyn Witte and husband, Ronnie; nieces, Stacie Graham and husband, Patrick, Tiffany Parker and husband, Jason; great nephew, A.J. Parker. He also leaves behind an uncle, many cousins, and a special friend, Kathy Davis.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Services honoring Art’s memory will be at 2 p.m. Monday, September 12, 2022 at the Jefferson Street Chapel with Bro. Justin Varnon and Jason Parker officiating. Andy Gregory will deliver a eulogy. Burial will follow in Eggville Cemetery. Visitation will be 12 p.m. until service time Monday at W.E. Pegues, Tupelo.
Pallbearers will be Mac Gregory, Roger Davis, Britt Curbow, Eddie Timmons, Terry Jones, Michael Davis, Danny Baldwyn, and Phil Morgan.
Honorary pallbearers will be former Action Transport drivers.
The family requests memorials be made to the Mooreville Elementary Awning Fund, PO Box 30, Mooreville, MS 38857.
