Funeral services for Ms. Arris Jane Wisener, age 76 of Wedowee, will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville with Pastor Larry Cosper officiating. Burial will follow in Crossroads Community Church Cemetery.
Ms. Wisener passed away on Friday, October 18, 2019 at her home. Born in Gadsden, she spent most of her life as a postmaster in Chilton County. She was a graduate of Emma Sansom High School in Gadsden. Ms. Wisener was extremely creative and hardworking. She enjoyed yardwork/landscaping (she had a green thumb), playing the banjo, quilting, drawing/illustrating and writing poetry and short stories. She was a great cook and loved to pick pears with her granddaughters, walking, watching “Wonder Woman”, and listening to her grandson Gavan play guitar. She loved her family and sent cards to many people for every occasion.
She is survived by two daughters, Anna Laurie Kapuya (Jean-Paul) of Mountain Brook and Mary Christina Duncan of Wedowee; two sons, Rodney Hal Duncan of Woodbridge, VA and Gerald Wayne Duncan(Ashley) of Montgomery; four grandchildren, Gavan Duncan, Hunter Duncan, Amelia Kapuya and Morgan Duncan; one brother, Ray Smith of Gadsden; two sisters, Joan Haygood of Gadsden and Cathie Clark(Scott) of Hokes Bluff; and a large extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arry Smith and Amy Dale Holloway.
Family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville from 11:00 A.M. until1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 before the service.
