Arrest Made In Homicide Near Florence

FLORENCE-The Lauderdale County  Sheriff’s Office reported an arrest of  a man in the murder of the 29-year-old man found murdered  earlier near Florence on Jackson Road.

The body found in a corn field on Monday, January 23 was discovered midday. Later Monday evening according to the Sheriff’s Office Robert Eugene Hastings, 33 of Florence was arrested and has  been charged with murder.  Hastings was booked into the Lauderdale County Detention Center around 8:30 PM after being arrested at his residence.

The suspect is being held without bond.

The murder victim has not been identified pending notification of next of kin.  The Florence Police Department has been assisting in the murder investigation.
