Arrest Made In Colbert County Animal Cruelty Case

CHEROKEE– Debra Catledge has been arrest and charged with 15 counts of Animal Cruelty over this past weekend.  The charges stem from an investigation that revealed at least 29 dead horses which were discovered on her property  Friday.  At least 10 of the deceased horses appeared to have starved to death.

At least 10 more horses and 45 dogs were also discovered in several states of malnourishment.   Colbert County Animal Services and the State Bureau of Investigation are investigating this case in which an arrest has been made.

According to Animal Services Director Corey Speegle the remaining horses and dogs have been transported to the Colbert County Animal Shelter for treatment.

Colbert County Animal Shelter is urgently looking for help, the need for horse feed is at the top of the list as well as food for the 45 dogs which have been taken into custody.
