Arnice Inez Smith passed away peacefully in her home on May 29, 2025, surrounded by her family. Arnice was born on December 6, 1946, in Arab the daughter of Grady Wood and Annie Collier Wood. She was married to her loving husband Jimmy Smith for sixty-one years. She took great joy in being there for her grandkids and great grandkids. Whether it be ball games, birthday parties or awards day, she was always there. She enjoyed flowers, working in the garden and unexpected trips to Gatlinburg with her family. Although she did not love cooking, she made sure she always had three meals a day on the table for the ones she loved. She was a member of Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband: Jimmy Smith; daughters: Denise Shedd (Les), Penny Murphree (Shawn) and Pam Smith Lyles; grandchildren: Heather Haney (Dallas), Tiffany Jarrett (Brandon), Kelby Murphree (Megan), Kasten Murphree (Chloe) and Kenlee Murphree (Robert); great grandchildren: Grady Jarrett, Gunner Jarrett, Trendon Coker, Daylan Coker, LJ Haney, Bearett Haney, Emmee Tovar, Jesse Murphree and Jaxson Murphree; she is also the grandmother to her chosen grandkids: Kaitlin Watson, Raylee Wilson, Kylie Bowling and Whitt Moody; host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Grady and Annie Wood and chosen granddaughter: Melissa Stanford.
Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 2, 2025, at Gober Funeral Chapel with Brother Paul Kelley and Brother Greg Stone officiating, eulogy by Brother Tom Ellenburg. The burial will be in Rock Springs Cemetery, Gober Funeral Chapel officiating.
Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Gober Funeral Chapel.
Pallbearers: Jeremy Smith, Darren Alldredge, Bobby Wayne Smith, Bobby Ray Smith, John Sivley, Jody Bagwell and Robert Tovar. Honorary Pallbearers: Dallas Haney, Brandon Jarrett, Sean Watson, Kelby Murphree, Kasten Murphree, Trendon Coker, Daylan Coker, Grady Jarrett and Gunner Jarrett.
