Arlis-Hurn-1471695906Arlis Alvin Hurn, 88 of Killen, departed this life to his heavenly home, Saturday, August 20, 2016. The family will receive friends Monday, August 22, 2016 from 12:00 – 1:45 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church in Killen with the funeral service following at 2:00 p.m. with his grandson, Timothy Justice and his pastor, Robert Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Bonnertown Cemetery.

Arlis was a native of Tennessee and long time resident of Lauderdale County. He was a charter member and deacon of Trinity Baptist Church where he has faithfully served the Lord for the past 33 years. He was a hard working husband and father. He retired as an iron worker out of Local #477 in Sheffield. His entire adult life he was an avid gardener.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Valeria; two daughters, Shirley Lynn and Carolyn Rose; granddaughter, Shelia Howard; parents, Raymond and Bessie Hurn; brothers, Tommy, Tonis and David Hurn; and sisters, Cleo Boyd and Louella Powell.

Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Marvalyn Louise Thompson Hurn; son, Randy Hurn and his wife, Joyce; daughter, Charlotte F. Justice; brother, James R. Hurn and his wife, Wanda; eleven grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Keith Justice, Chris Tate, Jeff Hurn, Matthew Justice, Josh Lowe and Josh Wright.

The family expresses special thanks to Dr. David T. Brown, Dr. Felix Morris, Dr. Sean M. Rhuland and the all the third floor nurses at E.C.M. Hospital.
