Mr. Archie Kidd, 82, died Tuesday, February 21, 2017, at North MS Medical Center Hospice following an extended illness. He was born in Stearns, Kentucky on May 19, 1934 to the union of Storie Kidd and Temple Blevins Kidd. Archie was married to Janice Rosser Kidd for 43 years until her death in 1998. He served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany during peacetime, and after his enlistment ended, he worked as an Electrical Sub-Station Operator, employed by Tennessee Valley Authority for more than 31 years before retiring.
Archie loved fast cars, NASCAR, motorcycles, and 4-wheelers. He was a master wood craftsman and could fix anything. He enjoyed collecting Indian artifacts, Civil War memorabilia, collecting and refinishing antiques, and attending auctions. He was a member of West Jackson Street Baptist Church.
A celebration of life service will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 24, 2017 in the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Rev. Keith Cochran officiating. Private burial will follow at Lee Memorial Park. Visitation will be Friday from noon to service time only.
Survivors include his children, Gregory Kidd (Sonya) of Fulton, Jeff Kidd (Jana) of Tupelo, and Lisa Campbell (Kurt) of Belden; sister, Shirley Smith of Muncie, IN; son-in-law, Steve Weathers; grandchildren, Ashley Christian (Russ), Tanner Kidd, Luke Weathers, Lily Campbell, David Clark (Donna), LeAnna Hill (Todd), and Brittiany Weathers; one great-grandchild, Maddyn McKinney. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
