Arba V. Ogle Whitehead – Obituary

Funeral services for Arba V. Ogle Whitehead, age 102 of Ashland, will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at Pleasant Hill Methodist Protestant Bible Church with Rev. John Luckie and Rev. David Holcombe officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining Cemetery.

 

Mrs. Whitehead passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at her home. A lifelong resident of Clay County, she was a housewife and had been through many changes and trials in her life, and her favorite pastime was reading her Bible. Mrs. Whitehead became a member of Pleasant Hill Methodist Protestant Bible Church on August 7, 1930 and had been a member for almost 89 years.

 

Mrs. Whitehead is survived by her daughter, Brenda Mattox (Troy), her son, Billy Royals (Wilma), both of Ashland, and number of other family members.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Ogle and Ethel Sargent, her husband of 55 years, Wilburn L. Whitehead, one daughter, Sara L. Royals; four sisters: Levis Wood, Mertis Smith, Emma Lou Brown, and Verta Mae Martin; and one brother, J. L. Ogle.

 

Active Pallbearers will be: Ronnie Lacey, Johnny Lacey, Rayford Daugherty, Wayne Prestridge, James Parsons, and Travis Jackson.

 

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Ben Weathers, Matthew Weathers, Curtis Adamson, Wesley Pitts, and the staff of Hospice of Clay County.

 

The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland on Monday, May 13, 2019 from 5:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. She will lie in state from 10:00 A.M. until service time at 11:00 A.M. at Pleasant Hill Methodist Protestant Bible Church.
