Ara Nell Jones, a long-time resident of Booneville, Mississippi, passed away on September 27, 2026, as Mississippi Care Center in Corinth, MS. She was born March 18, 1946, to James Bonnie Roaten and Lee Arlon Coleman Roaten. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty McKinnis from Southaven and Barbara Smith from Corinth. She is survived by one sister, Bonnie Lee Howell from Corinth, and three children, Lisa Michele Rosenberger (Brian) from Ramer, TN, Thomas Jeffery Howell from Booneville, MS and Sean Nicholas Jones from Boston, MA.
Nell was a very strong-willed independent woman. Unfortunately, that would all come to an end in mid-2019, when she was diagnosed with dementia. Nell could no longer live on her own and had lived her last few years in a care center closer to her family. Nell loved animals and her favorite hobby was reading novels.
Visitation will be Thursday from 3:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. at McMillan Funeral Home.
