FLORENCE– April’s First Fridays is a celebration of all things green as part of Earth Month. First Fridays will take place from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, April 3, in historic downtown Florence. “Celebrating Earth Month at the April First Fridays has become something of a tradition,” said First Fridays chairman Andy Frith. “I believe we all want to keep Florence and the downtown beautiful, so this is a way to remind folks to care for their city throughout the month and all year long.” Local agency Keep the Shoals Beautiful will be on hand as well as the Florence Recycling Department, the latter of which will launch the release of the blue recycling containers that are designed to facilitate and encourage recycling among residents. Music will kick off on the Big River Broadcasting Stage that evening with T.J. and Eisha, followed by
Cosa Nostra, and Ashley White. Several nonprofit agencies will also be at the April First Fridays, including Scope 310’s Blue Door Thrift Store, CASA, and Children’s Miracle Network. The April event will also showcase a wide variety of vendors, who will line Court Street and sell their hand-crafted items that include jewelry, original artwork, and clothing. “As always,
we’re excited to bring a fun night of family-oriented activities to the downtown,” Frith said. “We’re already looking toward warmer weather and other exciting events to come in the months ahead.” With Good Friday coinciding with April First Fridays, those who attend the downtown event are asked to park in the parking deck or in lots other than at local churches so as not to interfere with the services taking place at those locations. First Fridays, which is sponsored by Listerhill Credit Union, is a committee of Downtown Florence Unlimited and takes place the first Friday of every month during March through December.
