Anthony “Tony” Wayne Crews was born July 03, 1954 in Waynesboro, TN to the union of the late Van Cole and Betty June Tucker Crews. Mr. Crews was a member of the Waynesboro Church of Christ. He will be fondly remembered as a history buff. He loved to collect stamps, coins, magazines, and anything pertaining to the Civil War. He was one of the founding members of the 48th Regiment Tennessee Infantry. He was a Quarter Master Officer for the Army of Tennessee Reenacting where he was active in Civil War Reenactments. Tony appeared in the movie Gettysburg as an extra, representing the 54th Regiment Tennessee Infantry, a moment in his life he truly considered precious. He was one of thirty handpicked to portray Kennesaw Confederate Soldiers in the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. Mr. Crews was also the writer of a play that was acted out four times a year at Shiloh for several years. He departed this life on Sunday, December 01, 2024 in Waynesboro, TN making his stay in this life some 70 years, 4 months, and 29 days.
He is survived by his brother, David Allen Crews and wife Carol of Cypress Inn, TN; nephew, Brian Crews and wife Valerie of Collinwood, TN; niece Joy Stults and husband Stephen of Iron City, TN; He is also survived by numerous great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Memorial Services will be conducted on Sunday, December 8, 2024 at Bates-Love Funeral and Cremation Chapel beginning at 2:00 PM with Cary Crews, Stephen Stults, and Thad Calton officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather beginning at 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be given to the Waynesboro Church of Christ.
