Anthony Paul Spires, 62, Tuscumbia, passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2023. Visitation will be Monday, July 10, from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. A graveside service will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Tuscumbia, beginning at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. J. E. Malone officiating.
Tony served as a Tuscumbia Fireman from 1984 – 1985. He loved working on old cars and was an avid Nascar fan. Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy Neal and Claudia Spires; sister, Brenda Gail Spires; and brother, Baby Boy Spires.
Tony is survived by his wife, Rachel Spires; children, Neal Spires, Jimmy Bonner, and Jamie Swinea; grandchildren, Daren Spires, Alissa Swinea, and Addison Spires; aunt, Jenny Slatton, uncles, Doug and Winston Slatton; and several cousins.
Pallbearers will be Greg Thomason, Michael Castle, Neal Spires, Jimmy Owen Hollis, Daren Spires, Gene Logan, and Jimmy Bonner. Kenneth Crowder and Mike Green will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family would like to thank the staff at Gentiva Hospice for the wonderful care given to Tony.
