Photo of Annie Sue LongAnnie Sue Long, age 87, of Russellville passed away on April 2, 2026. Her family was honored to be with her as she left this life to spend eternity with the Lord Jesus. She was born January 31, 1939 to the late William Arthur and Lillie Pearline Turbyfill. To her children, she was “Momma” and to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren she was “Nan” or “Nannie”. She was a life-long resident of Franklin County and a devoted member of Russellville First Baptist Church. She truly loved to use her skills as a cook to provide for family and loved ones and she loved to see a full stomach. She had a strong work ethic and was a woman of great integrity. Visitation will be Monday, April 6, at Akins Funeral Home in Russellville, Alabama, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon with the memorial service to follow at 12:00 noon. Brother Chase Dowdy and Brother Joel Davis will officiate. Survivors include her children, Lisa Mitchell (Wendell) of Moulton AL; Roger Long (Ginger) of Russellville AL; Susan McKinney (Tim) of Russellville AL; grandchildren Wesley Mitchell (Hillary), Emily Mitchell Elkins (Chase), Ben Long (Chelsea), Whitney Long Henry (Kevin), Kayla McKinney, Kyle McKinney; sisters Helen Hall, Juanita Lane, Brenda Pounders, Deborah Simpson; and eleven great-grandchildren. Annie Sue was preceded in death by her parents; infant sister, Betty Anne Turbyfill; infant brother James Edward Turbyfill; and brother William Bobby Turbyfill. Pallbearers will be Wesley Mitchell, Ben Long, Kyle McKinney, Chase Elkins, Kevin Henry, Jaxson Mitchell and Cooper Elkins. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in her memory to Russellville First Baptist Church – Annie Armstrong Easter Offering.
