Funeral service for Mrs. Annie Laurie Jones Oakes age 87 of Fayetteville will be conducted Sunday at 2:30 pm at Fayetteville First Baptist Church with Rev. Van Johnson officiating. Burial will follow beside her late husband Mr. James Oakes in the Blanche Cemetery. Mrs. Oakes passed away Thursday evening at her residence.
A native of Taft, TN. Mrs. Oakes was the daughter of the late Charles D. and Lala Woodard Jones. She was a homemaker, worked for Hugh Counts Photography, Cub Scout den mother, of former first troops at Taft, and a member of the Fayetteville First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter Cindy B. Harwell of Fayetteville, son Charles Steven (Gail E.) Oakes of Hermitage, TN. Grandchildren Vince Higgins, Kevin Higgins, Connor Oakes and Wesley Oakes, great Grandchildren Morgan, Ally and Sloan Higgins.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Fayetteville First Baptist Church and Lincoln County Cancer Society.
Visitation with the family will be Sunday 1 until 2:30 pm at First Baptist Church.
