Annie Jo CreelAnnie Jo Creel, 95 of Graysville, passed away peacefully surrounded by family in her home May 11, 2026.
Born is Alabaster on September 16, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Alex and Ruby Murray.
Annie Jo eventually settled in Graysville where she built a life around her family, faith and community. Jo owned a local business for many years, “Jo’s Fabric and Notions.”
Following her time as a business owner, she joined UAB as admissions coordinator for 16 years.
Annie Jo has been a part of Graysville Church of God for over 60 years as a devoted member.
Jo spent her retirement years with things she loved most; painting, crocheting and embarking on many adventures with her friends and family. From camping at Tannehill, the beach house in Panama City, spending time at the lake, setting sail on a cruise and going to spend time with her cousin Lou in the mountains of North Carolina. One of her most cherished memories as a passionate baseball fan, was going to the Atlanta Braves game for her 90th birthday.
Annie Jo was preceded in death by her beloved husband Glen ” Coot” Creel, daughter Glenda Jo Orel, brother Ralph and parents Alex and Ruby Murray.
She is survived by her daughter Lisa Creel Stevens, grandchildren Kayla Jo Hunt (Brandon) and Justin Orel and great grandchildren Jaden Orel, Colin Hunt, Kinley Hunt, Chloe Orel and Colton Orel and a host of nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2pm, Friday, May 15 at New Horizon Chapel. Burial will follow in New Horizon Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one-hour prior to the service time.
