Annette Hughes, age 76, of Beaverton, AL, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2024 at the residence. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at 6:00pm from the Otts Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Mt. Hebron Cemetery. Reverend Tom Ward to officiate the services. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 5:00pm until service time at 6:00pm. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to the Mt. Hebron Methodist Church Cemetery fund.
Shirley Annette Hughes was born on June 23, 1947 in Fayette, AL, to the late France Richard Hughes and the late Bessie Gann Hughes. She was a graduate of Sulligent High School, class of 1966. After graduation she attended college and received her degree in cosmetology, going on to work for Mrs. Dot Mixon at the Pink Poodle Beauty Shop. Annette later worked for and retired from the McCoy Manufacturing Industry. After retirement she spent many years caring for her mother and enjoying the Collins Senior Citizens Center in Guin, AL, where she made many friends and always enjoyed a game of Bingo. She was a devout member of the Mt. Hebron Methodist Church. Annette enjoyed gardening, yard work and sitting on her porch with her beloved dog Rusty. She was a great neighbor who loved visiting and spending time with the people in her community, especially her extended family.
