Anne Cole Mrs. Anne Voorhis Cole, age 93, of Murfreesboro, TN passed away Saturday, September 13, 2025. She was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Sheldon and Florence Lester Voorhis. She was known as Mrs. Anne to her many students throughout the years. Mrs. Anne taught dance and physical education at Middle Tennessee State University and was integral in the development of the Holt Dance Program there. She then would teach dance at her studio in the evening over a span of generations. Mrs. Anne was recognized by students anywhere she went, be it locally around town or when travelling elsewhere with her husband. She was a long-time member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.

 

Mrs. Anne is survived by her husband of 30 years, Howard Rhea Cole; daughters, Mary Hatcliff and her husband Patrick, Carolyne Holland Raney and her husband Eric, and Catherine D’Arcy Holland; grandchildren, Caitlin Smits, Capt. Carley Hatcliff USAF, Miranda Raney, Emma Raney, Holly Hadnot, S. Camille Comer-Metoxen, and Zoie Simpson; great grandchildren, Izabell, Emelia, Emmitt, Talwinn, Reese, Hattie, and Cam; siblings, Julia Moore and her husband Benny and Remsen Voorhis and his wife Carol; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
