  Anna Marie NelsonAnna Marie Nelson, 54, of Decatur, Alabama, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2026.
She was born on February 1, 1971, in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Anna was preceded in death by her father, George Nelson, and her brother, Nathan Nelson,
both of whom she loved dearly.
She is survived by her mother, Cindy Chadwick Nelson; her son, Stoner Prestridge; her life
partner, Scott Hall; and a loving extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and godparents.
She is also survived by a treasured and cherished circle of dear friends known fondly as her
“love bugs.”
Anna’s life was a beautiful testament to resilience, strength, and kindness. She had such a
rare gift for making people feel immediately welcomed and valued. Her radiant smile and
genuine compassion were not only the hallmarks of her character, but they also served as
beautiful reflections of her loving and caring spirit. She loved life deeply and lived it to its
fullest, embracing each day with gratitude, humor, courage, and grace.
A “class favorite” and proud graduate of Decatur High School, Class of 1989, Anna continued
her education at the University of Alabama. She built a multifaceted career in sales and
project management, where her warmth and determination earned her both respect and
admiration by colleagues and clients alike.
Beyond the corporate world, Anna spent much of her professional and personal life in the
catfish farming community of Greensboro, Alabama. There, she discovered not just work,
but a true sense of purpose—one rooted in patience, perseverance, and connection to the
land and the people surrounding her. During this time, she also found a special joy and
talent in capturing the beauty of nature through photography, preserving moments of light,
life, and quiet wonder. Those years on the farm were a true expression of Anna’s
hardworking, devoted, generous, and loving nature.
The legacy of Anna Marie Nelson is one of compassion, courage, and unwavering light. She
faced challenges with quiet strength and met the world with an open heart. To know Anna
was to be loved by her, and to be loved by Anna is a gift that will never fade. Though her
earthly journey has ended, her spirit will live on in the countless lives she touched with love.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the upcoming weeks. Additional details will be
shared as arrangements are finalized.
