Mrs. Herston was a long-time member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church and had been an RSVP volunteer. She was devoted to God, her family, and to her friends. While at the nursing home she was an inspiration to others.

She was a Braves Baseball and Alabama football fan.

Mrs. Herston is survived by a daughter Peggy Craig and husband Howard of Florence; a son Jimmy Herston and wife Peggy of Kissimmee, Florida; grandchildren Judy Craig Deaver and husband Shawn of Florence, Darryl Craig of Huntsville, Michele Genovese and husband Steve of Mesa, Arizona and Heather Herston of Kissimmee, Florida; great-grandchildren Craig Graves of Tuscaloosa, Branden Genovese, USAF, Germany, and Ashley Genovese of Mesa, Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her parents Tom and Clara Thrasher, a brother Andrew “Pee Wee” Thrasher and sisters Inez Darby, Ora Lee Quigley and Olive Ruth Fulmer.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Building Fund at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church.

Pallbearers will be Shawn Deaves, Craig Graves, Wayne Clark, Larry Fulmer, Jerry Edmondson and Ricky Ashley. Honorary bearers will be Jim Underwood and Gene Fulmer.

A special thanks to Dr. McFall care and concern all these years. The last eight years she was a resident of MHNRC and was wonderfully cared for by the nurses and staff on Station Six. Their love and concern was appreciated by her and by her family.
