Ann Brooks Tidwell, born Joyce Ann Brooks, age 77, of Athens, Alabama passed away Thursday, February 22nd, 2024, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
Ann was born in Athens and graduated from Athens high school in 1964. She completed her bachelor’s degree from Athens State College while working at Athens State and retired from there in 1998 after 25 years of service.
She was a member of Friendship Methodist Church in Athens. She had a full life that included lots of traveling and even went to India on a ten-day mission trip in 2005. She was a social butterfly with the true heart of a servant. She had met and befriended many people in her life and was loved by all who knew her. Everyone who knew Ann loved her and we are all better having loved and known her. She will be missed by all who knew her, until the day we join her in glory.
She was preceded in death by her mother Jessie Thompson Brooks; her father Gilbert Johnny Brooks; and brothers Johnny Brooks and Terry Brooks. She is survived by her husband David Tidwell; brother Tracy Joe Brooks; sister Aleisa Brooks; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The funeral service for Mrs. Tidwell will be Sunday, February 25th, 2024, at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home in Athens, AL, at 2:00 p.m., with Steve Dorning and Michael Miller officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, February 24th, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery, in Athens, AL.
