Ann Blizzard Sims – Obituary

Ann Blizzard Sims of Hartselle died on Friday, January 25, 2019 at Morningside Assisted Living in Decatur.  She was born on June 18, 1937 in Hartselle.  She was a graduate of Morgan County High School. She graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Elementary Education where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority.  She then taught 1st grade in Birmingham, AL for 4 years while her husband attended the University of Alabama School of Dentistry.  After her husband’s graduation, she went with him to Germany where he served in the United States Army and she taught kindergarten on the Army Base for 2 years.  After coming back to Hartselle, she taught first grade at FE Burleson Elementary for 2 years.  She was a member First United Methodist Church, Heritage Choir, Rainbow Garden Club and Hartselle Hospitality Club.  She was an avid supporter of Auburn Athletics and had a strong passion for “Fashion”.  Always up to date on the latest clothing styles and trends. Also, she was a very loving mother and grandmother.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents John Oliver Blizzard and Mildred Freeman Blizzard.  She is survived by one son, Mark Lee Sims (Tina) of Decatur;  1 grandson,  Austin (Stephanie) of Kimberly, AL;  2 granddaugthers, Summer and Savannah;  1 great grandson, Greyson.

 

Pallbearers will be Jon Anderson, John Baggette, David Langston, Dr. Mike McCutcheon, Allen Stoner and Kent Quinn.

 

Services will be held Tuesday, January 29 at 3:00PM at Peck Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Thompson and Rev. Doug Wells directing. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1:00PM to 3:00PM at the funeral home.
