Ann Blackwell Britnell – Obituary

Funeral for Ann Blackwell Britnell, 92, of Decatur will be today, Dec. 23, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Ridout’s Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Formby of Central United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Britnell died Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2016. She was born April 6, 1924, in Decatur to Robert and Ruth Blackwell. Mrs. Britnell was a lifelong resident of Decatur. She was a graduate of Riverside High School in 1942, where she met and later married her high school sweetheart, Bill Britnell.

Mrs. Britnell was a loving mother to her sons and devoted wife to her husband Bill for 71 years. She loved the Lord and was a committed and faithful member at Central United Methodist Church. Mrs. Britnell took absolute delight in always wanting to help and serve others. She loved to cook for others and always was willing to lend a hand to those in need. She especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Britnell was preceded in death by her husband, William E. “Bill” Britnell, her parents and three sisters.

Her memory will forever be cherished by her two sons, William David Britnell and wife, Linda, of Mansfield, Georgia, Stephen Arthur Britnell and wife, Darlene, of Decatur; her three brothers, Robert Blackwell, Paul Blackwell and Sam Blackwell; her four grandchildren, Diane Britnell Wallace, Susan Britnell Thompson and husband, Ron, April Britnell Reed and husband, Bill, Stacie Britnell Nails and husband, Justin, as well as many great-grandchildren and great-great children.

Pallbearers will be Bill Reed, Ron Thompson, Justin Nails, Steve Yarbrough, James Yarbrough and John Barnette.
